Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company (CMBC) is one of the leading, historic brewers in the UK. Formed out of a joint venture between Carlsberg UK and Marston’s PLC, we combine over 300 years of shared values, history, and heritage in UK brewing.

We are now recruiting for an additional Field Sales Manager to join this expanding team. Reporting to the Trading Director – Route to Market, this role will be responsible for the execution of our Indirect brand distribution growth strategy in the North of England. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to develop their people management skills to a whole new level, whilst delivering a highly ambitious sales agenda.

Key Accountabilities:

  • People management and leadership of 7 field based SDE’s
  • Support the Trading Director in the development of a market leading Field Sales function
  • Accompany team members in trade to support in call, as well as coaching sales and negotiating skills
  • Develop, execute, and evaluate the Region’s growth strategy in line with business expectations
  • Ensure minimum standards of performance are adhered through implementing effective Performance Management process
  • Ensure SDE’s have effective journey plans and objectives for the week
  • Ensure marketing sales briefs are effectively executed in trade
  • Evaluate resource deployment and allocate to areas of opportunity
  • Evaluate sales data to identify growth opportunity
  • Network externally with key Regional and National Wholesale customers to maintain strong working relationships
  • Network internally with key stakeholders to understand wholesale customer strategies and ways of working
  • Pivotal role in Free Trade working closely with Regional Controller’s to ensure SDE’s & CDM’s are working closely together – driving a “one Free Trade” team’ culture
  • Coach, develop and train the SDE Team in all CMBC Portfolio strategies
  • Develop talent to create a pipeline of candidates for internal promotion opportunities
  • Manage recruitment to attract exceptional talent to CMBC
  • Complete and agree PDR objectives and conduct regular 1-1s with each SDE

Experience and Key Attributes required:

  • Commercial experience of managing complex customers
  • Passion to develop great people leadership
  • Experience in delivering great results through others
  • Strong Communicator
  • Coaching & Mentoring experience
  • Ideal but not essential, previous line management experience of a small team
