Are you looking for an exciting new challenge in your finance career? Then join the University of Cambridge Finance Division in a new pilot role as Finance Assistant. The role will  working across two faculties in the School of Arts and Humanities  – The Faculty of Architecture and History of Art, and the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (FAMES).

This full-time role reports to the School Finance Manager, but works closely with the two finance leads in FAMES and the Faculty of Architecture and History of Art. There will be some flexibility in working location, but it is expected that the role-holder sits within each faculty at least one day per week. 

The Role

The role will cover a range of tasks including:

  •  Being the first point of contact for financial matters for faculty staff & students and give advice and guidance regarding financial procedures.
  •  Processing accounts payable invoices and raising purchase orders.
  •  Prepare monthly payment spreadsheets for submission to Payroll section for processing.
  •  Disseminating information regarding financial policies to faculty staff. 

Your Skills

You should have experience working with finances, not necessarily in the Higher Education sector, although any experience of the University financial system would be an advantage.

You will:

  •  Be able to prioritise your workload and have strong organisational skills.
  •  Have experience of using relevant reporting tools.
  •  Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a good a good eye for detail.
  •  The ability to use and learn IT systems are essential (Training will be provided as needed).

With two busy faculties, this role works with two supportive teams and will suit someone pro-active who enjoys variety in their work.

Location

The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of our approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows. This arrangement is subject to change and will not form a part of the contractual terms of the role

Funding for this post is available for 12 months.
