Job Introduction

To provide professional financial support and advice to a range of key stakeholders within the BBC. The role will also maintain the integrity and control of financial systems and processes

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop team of financial specialists.
  • Support risk management for News Division, including liaising with Group Financial Control team
  • Deputise for Senior International Finance Business Partner, where required including attending Audit, Risk and Divisional oversight meetings
  • Raise & manage International Financial Control risks & issues including escalation of major issues
  • Responsibility for resolution of International Financial Control risks and issues
  • Liaise with UK and International Auditors where required
  • Hold regular / quarterly remote oversight meetings with International bureaux including reviewing test sample evidence for the operation of Financial Controls
  • Manage a programme of international site visits to review the operation of Financial Controls in the international bureaux and work through an audit / oversight programme whilst onsite and issue an audit / oversight report at the end of the visit
  • Deliver continuous improvement initiatives including reviewing design & effectiveness of controls with recommendations for improvements
  • Drive accounting systems improvements e.g. Quick Books, SAP, Concur, international payroll, etc. which will automate and improve Financial Controls
  • Oversee any support required for operational matters which impact financial controls e.g. large cash transfers
  • Lead Financial Control activities for setting up new bureaux & converting bureaux from Rep Office or branch to Limited company
  • Sign-off updates to International Operations Finance Handbook
  • Approve changes to International Financial Control Delegated Authorities list
  • Approve changes to best practice financial control templates

Are you the right candidate?

  • Professional accounting qualification ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Significant experience of operating and reviewing Financial Controls
  • Previous audit or financial governance & oversight experience
  • Suitable experience of risk management principles and processes
  • Regular international travel to perform overseas audits / oversight reviews will be an essential part of this role
  • Demonstrable people management and team leadership experience
