The Finance Manager reports directly to the Financial Controller, but during maternity cover will report to the CFO, and contributes to the overall success of the organisation by effectively managing all financial tasks, budgeting and accounting.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Finance Manager performs a wide range of duties, including the following in a fast-growing retail business.
Financial accounting and reporting
· Timely and accurate management accounts that are appropriate for the users, including monthly reconciliations.
· Manage cashflow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
· Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organisation are met including VAT preparation and submissions (standard, margin and reverse charge), tax, energy consumption etc.
· Prepare supporting information for the annual audit with external auditors.
· Create and review monthly results including monthly reporting (prior year and budget comparisons) as required for board meetings.
· Maintain the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable.
· Liaise with other departments e.g. Commercial, Operations, Payroll, Stock Control and Sales Forecast etc.
· Overseeing banking facilities, including making weekly payments.
· Develop and implement policies and procedures as required to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure.
· Monthly group consolidation.
Budget preparation
· Prepare annual budget in consultation with the Head of Operations (for both the board members and other partners).
· Update with actuals throughout the year and provide explanation for variances.
Business partnering
· Key business partner for the CFO, alongside other members of management.
· Key business partner for the major customer to the business.
Adhoc
· Board members and other partners adhoc requests.
Qualifications
Education
· Degree educated, ACA/CIMA/ACCA Qualified Accountant.
Experience
· Retail, stores, stock preferable.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
. Minimum of 2 years PQE
· Excellent Excel skills.
· Knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS102) accounting and internal control principles.
· Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations on business issues.
· Commercial mind-set.
· Well developed written and oral communication skills.
· Ability and desire to communicate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels, including finance and non-finance managers.
· Ability to manage people and work in a team environment.
Proficiency in the use of computer programmes for:
· Pronto reporting system (or familiar use with other ERP systems).
· Cognos.
· Microsoft Office.
Other Relevant Information
· Flexible hybrid working, with minimum 2 days office based (Marlow).
· Team management of a number of individuals.
