An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join our Team.  Are you passionate about finance and keen to develop your skills then this could be the role for you.  The purpose of this role is to provide high level financial advice to aid the planning, implementation and management of departmental finances in our Department of Public Health and Primary Care, which sits in the School of Clinical Medicine.  The role holder will ensure that the department’s processes and procedures comply with financial regulations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the grants and accounts teams in the Professional Services Team and will ensure that they maintain efficient financial processes that deliver an excellent service to departmental colleagues.  Providing expert advice to the Business & Operations Manager, Head of Department and Principal Investigators to enable them to manage their general accounts and grant expenditure.

You will be responsible for ensuring that central university funding is spent according to plan and is allocated appropriately.  Along with responsibility for supporting  the development of a financial sustainability plan to ensure that the Professional Services Team and Department initiatives are financially supported in the medium to long term.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate competence in the use of Oracle Finance programmes, have excellent IT skills and be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of University financial and accounting processes and principles.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills are essential.  Holding a financial or accounting AAT qualification and be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience in a finance related role.

This position is full-time.  Part-time applications will be considered for no less than 0.9 FTE per week.

This is a maternity cover for a maximum of 1 year or the return of the post-holder, whichever is the earliest.
