Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 July 2027 in the first instance.

Responsible to: Audit, Risk and Compliance Finance Manager (Research)

Working pattern: Full-time

The University is embarking on an ambitious, large-scale initiative which will ultimately shape and enhance Finance’s processes and tools of the future.  The Finance System Replacement (FSR) project is the implementation of a new ERP finance system which will make a lasting difference in the way in which the University processes it’s financial transactions and will be critical to achieving improvements to our user experience and core processes

The role of Finance System Replacement Programme Specialist is key to ensuring that the deliverables from the emerging Finance Transformation Programme and Transformation Research Support programmes make processes efficient and effective, adhering to requirements/regulations of the University, our funders and auditors, and meets the needs of all staff across the University

The role holder will serve as the voice of the Research Office and research community, ensuring effective communication, and advocating for user needs throughout the project. The successful candidate will oversee the documentation and assessment of end-to-end processes, both on and off the system, gaining comprehensive insights into user requirements and facilitating their documentation and configuration into our new ERP system

The role holder will work closely with the Finance Manager (Research) and Deputy Workstream Lead (Research) as well as other partners and stakeholders to support the transformation of manual processes and working practices as they relate to externally funded research activity and determining the best means of satisfying requirements within the context of project objectives and constraints

The role holder will have:

Experience of the practical application of financial/business processes and controls

Experience within Higher Education Sector and Research Finance Management

Experience of effectively sharing functional knowledge to support the outputs and learning of colleagues and users

Experience of PRINCE2 Practitioner/ PRINCE2 Agile/LEAN, and working knowledge of research grant administration, including audit and funder requirements and change management are desirable but not essential.
