We have a new and exciting opportunity for an early career Graduate Trainee in Financial Accounting to join our Financial Control team.

Who are we?

Based within the Finance Hub and reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance – Financial Control, we are responsible for external financial reporting, technical accounting advice, taxation compliance and robust financial control across the University.

What will you be doing?

This is a broad and varied opportunity and will build your experience through the following activities:

  • Production of the University and Group Integrated Annual Report
  • Production of the Annual Report and Accounts for all UK subsidiary and joint venture companies within the Group
  • Delivery of taxation compliance
  • Supporting processes and controls for key financial areas which are the responsibility of the team.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a Graduate with an interest and some experience in finance and accounting. You need to be ready to start on a full-time basis on or before 4 March 2024.

To be successful in this role you should bring with you good analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and a can-do attitude. Experience of working independently and as a team would also be beneficial to the role.

Support and benefits

We will support you through a 3-year programme of learning and development as you undertake you accounting qualifications (ACA or ACCA), this will be fully funded by the university. We will also support you with time away from work for exams and classroom-based learning.

Once you have completed the Professional (ACA) or Knowledge and Skills (ACCA) stage, we will review your performance, and subject to reaching a satisfactory standard, you will progress to the next grade in our pay scales.
