Financial Controller
£60,000 – £65,000 + Bonus & Benefits
Borehamwood, Herts (Officed based initially)
An excellent opportunity for an ambitious, commercially-minded individual to join a highly successful and growing business within the financial services sector.
The role is responsible for the co-ordination and management of various month end accounting tasks and activities. The Financial Controller will assist the Head of Finance and wider Finance Department as required with various financial accounting, analytical and reporting tasks.
Main Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the month-end process, ensuring timely delivery of outputs in adherence to internal and external deadlines.
- Lead the balance sheet reconciliation process.
- Collaborate with outsourced accountants to address year-end, audit, and ad hoc queries.
- Provide support during the year-end audit.
- Manage returns, including VAT, WHT, and Corp Tax.
- Oversee the training and development of the Assistant Accountant.
- Challenge and enhance current financial control processes.
- Offer support in operational finance, encompassing payments and cash book reconciliations.
- Assist in-house platform reconciliation and development.
- Provide support for projects and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Handle any other ad hoc requests.
Requirements
- Ideally ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
- Demonstrable leadership experience
- Excellent experience using Excel for analysis and forecasting
- Ideally from a lending or banking background
