Job Description
The University is investing over £40 million in our sports facilities across our campuses, so it is an exciting time to be joining the Southampton Sport team. The Jubilee Sport and Recreation Centre is due to open its expansion in Summer 2024, we will be joined by 3 brand new squash courts, a state-of-the-art Techno Gym fitness suite, 5 indoor studios and a new climbing provision. Our mission is to develop a healthy, happy, successful community across the University of Southampton, aiming to see at least 75% of our population active by 2025.
As a Fitness Ambassador your role is to provide a high-quality health and fitness service, teaching fitness classes and providing personal training to motivate and inspire customers with their fitness journey. You will also be responsible for the safe and efficient daily operation of the facilities in line with accredited standards.
As the successful candidate, you’ll support the Fitness Supervisor and Fitness Class Coordinator providing fitness initiatives to engage the customers. You will be overseeing the Jubilee Sports Centre and Mayflower gyms, instructing and engaging with members. Strong communication skills, high motivation, and a proven track record in customer-focused environments are essential.
You will be qualified with a Gym Level 2/Level 3 qualification or equivalent and will have relevant experience in the fitness and leisure industry, along with the experience of delivering fitness classes, personal training, gym inductions and programmes. It will be essential to hold a First Aid qualification, which can be discussed at the interview process.
You will be required to work early and late shifts, including weekends at the Jubilee Sports Centre and Mayflower Gym, supporting our seven-day service.
