Operations:
Delivering all off-pitch operations for the club covering our people, technology, facilities and infrastructure development at both Old Trafford and Carrington.
Key departments within Operations include matchday delivery, hospitality & event sales, facilities, ticketing & membership, people, sustainability, safety & security, digital transformation & IT and our club charity, Manchester United Foundation.
The Purpose:
As a Food Safety Officer, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team of catering professionals, contributing your expertise to elevate the standards and exceed expectations in a bustling department. Your role goes beyond routine tasks – you’ll be a crucial player in ensuring the safety and excellence of our culinary offerings during high-profile conference events and lively match day business.
The Role:
Assist the Head of Regulatory Services in ensuring regulatory compliance across all club departments, with a focus on food safety regulations, catering production, hospitality, and retail.
Stay ahead of the game by ensuring prompt adoption of new and amended legislation, communicating changes through engaging methods like presentations and new company policies.
Be the backbone of our catering team, providing continuous support on food service/safety, ensuring our HACCP system is always up-to-date and meeting requirements.
Innovate and implement new food service policies and procedures, managing and monitoring both current and new procedures to keep us at the forefront.
Collaborate with the Allergens facilitator, catering, and events team to ensure seamless execution of match and non-match events, conducting thorough inspections for accurate documentation.
Lead by example, donning a white coat, hairnet, and following FSMS personal hygiene rules when entering kitchens or food service areas.
Conduct regular audits of kitchens, bars, retail, and other food and beverage areas, promoting adherence to our Food Safety Policy.
Act as a facilitator for relevant food safety training, ensuring all staff, new and current, are well-versed in our standards.
Contribute to sustainable supplier procurement and effectively manage pest control provisions with a focus on food safety.
Prepare monthly food safety and affirmations reports, liaising with the Local Authority in the absence of the Compliance Manager.
Champion and maintain ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications, promoting health, safety, and environmental initiatives.
Collaborate with colleagues to maintain standards and log incidents on match days, showcasing an open-minded and responsible attitude.
The Person:
Hold a compelling degree or diploma in Food Inspection, Environmental Health, or an equivalent field, or currently pursuing such qualifications.
Possess a robust knowledge and hands-on experience in implementing food safety and health & safety processes at a brisk operational pace.
Ensure food safety is seamlessly integrated into ongoing corporate risk programs rather than treated in isolation.
Exhibit excellence in forward planning, organisational skills, influencing abilities, and risk management.
Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and interpreting diverse analytical and microbiological results, making timely and informed judgments.
Showcase the ability to lead cross-functional “Problem Solving” teams effectively.
Ideally, have knowledge of regulatory authorities, processes, and powers, such as Environmental Health and Trading Standards.
Competent in utilising IT systems for completing audits, developing systems, and generating insightful reports.
Display a strong ability to adapt communication styles when interacting with colleagues at all levels.
Be a self-motivated individual with exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
Hold a full driving license, as the role may involve some travel.
