The Food Store at the Bromley by Bow Centre (BbBC) is a joint initiative with Bow Foodbank and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Tackling Poverty Team.
The project is aimed at supporting older people who are food insecure. The Food Store will be a membership project, for which people will pay a small weekly fee in return for a selection of groceries and essential items.
The terms of their membership will also provide them access to the BbBC’s experienced Social Welfare Advice Team who will support to address medium and long-term financial issues through holistic support. The aim is that within six-months peoples circumstances will be improved and they will be supported to access other services in the community
The role will coordinate the design, set up, daily running and operational delivery of the Bromley by Bow Centre’s Food Store. This will include recruitment, induction, training, support and supervision of volunteers, liaison with partners including Bow Foodbank, reporting on progress made and evidencing the impact of the service.
