St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College are seeking to employ a part-time Food Technician to support the college’s Technology Department.

  • Scale 3 points 5 – 6: £5,379.59 – £5,563.43 actual

As our new Food Technician, you will provide a technician support service to the Food Technology Department, including preparation of materials, setting up equipment for practical classes and assisting in practical lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining resources for Food Technology lessons
  • Ensure cleanliness and order in food preparation and storage areas
  • Support practical lessons and check/photocopy worksheets
  • Manage administrative tasks, including shopping and digital tools
  • Contribute to raising standards and comply with policies for safety and equality
  • Attend meetings, participate in training, and provide First Aid

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • GCSE English and Maths (A-C) or equivalent, including Adult Literacy/Numeracy at level 2
  • Food Hygiene/Health and Safety certification
  • First aid qualification or willingness to undergo training
  • Advanced English fluency, promoting literacy standards effortlessly
  • Previous kitchen and food hygiene experience, preferably in a similar role or catering
  • Ability to form professional relationships with children, aligning with College values
  • Technical skills with attention to detail in preparation tasks
  • Experience working with young people and promoting the Catholic life of the College
  • Alignment with policies, commitment to accountability, and resilience under pressure
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and initiative in decision-making
  • Excellent communication, emotional intelligence, and integrity
  • Eligibility to work in the UK, clean personal background, and confidentiality assurance
  • Capacity to perform all duties with reasonable adjustments as per Equality Act

Location: The role holder may be asked to work at either St Bede’s or St Joseph’s Catholic College.
