Reporting into the Technical Manager, this role provides essential technical support and maintains compliance for food safety and quality. The role requires proactive handling of complaints, accurate completion of finished product specifications and maintenance of technical systems. This role requires a key eye for detail, excellent communication skills and adaptability.

Role Details
Role: Food Technologist
Salary: between 26K-28K (dependent on experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, typically 8:00AM/9:00AM – 16:00/17:00PM
Contract: Permanent
Job Description
The Food Technologist will be responsible for:
- Investigate complaints, find root cause and corrective actions, and ensure all responses are completed thoroughly with minimal delay
- Complete recipes and finished product specifications meeting customer requirements and ensuring right first-time approach.
- Administration and Maintenance of relevant technical systems e.g. Quality Management System, Supplier Approval, Raw material specifications
- Produce reports as directed by the Technical team to allow trending, and identification of trends in complaint statistics.
- Undertake routine finished product testing and analysis of results, investigating any adverse results.
- Compile trending information for meetings and audits to drive improvements for complaints, GMP’s, micro and other technical Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Assist in implementing and monitoring quality control procedures
- Support in the procurement of materials and supplies, ensuring timely availability and adherence to quality standards.
- Liaise with pest control and hygiene contractors where necessary
- Keep up to date with food safety legislation
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships internally and with key stakeholders restaurants, ensuring that communication is managed professionally and in a timely manner
- Cover QA holidays, completing tasks such as GMP audits, Start up checks, Taste panel
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Food science degree or a background in a similar food safety role
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills
- Strong IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Works well within a team and independently
Desirable:
- Previous experience within the food industry, in a manufacturing environment
