Job Duties:
The Food Technology Teacher will be responsible for:
- Planning and delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons in Food Technology to students.
- Teaching students various aspects of food preparation, cooking techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
- Developing and implementing effective teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Assessing and evaluating students’ progress through assignments, tests, and examinations.
- Providing constructive feedback and guidance to students to support their academic and personal development.
- Maintaining accurate records of students’ attendance, achievements, and behaviour.
- Collaborating with colleagues to develop and enhance the Food Technology curriculum.
- Participating in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
- Ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Required Qualifications:
- A valid teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or QTS, specialising in Food Technology.
- Proven experience in teaching Food Technology at the secondary school level.
- Excellent knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
- Strong understanding of the national curriculum requirements for Food Technology.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology or a related field is required.
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in Food Technology at the secondary school level.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
- Familiarity with the use of kitchen equipment and tools.
- Ability to create engaging and interactive lessons.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in using technology for teaching purposes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Additional certifications or training in Food Technology.
- Experience in designing and implementing practical cooking sessions.
- Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Working Conditions:
The Food Technology Teacher will work in a secondary school setting, delivering lessons in a classroom and practical cooking sessions in a well-equipped kitchen. The role involves working full-time hours on a contract basis. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues and interact with students, parents, and school staff on a daily basis. The working environment will be dynamic and may require occasional additional hours for lesson planning, assessment, and participation in extracurricular activities.
Expected salary: £46001 per year
