We are currently seeking a positive, self-motivated part time Food Tech Teacher, to deliver our Food Technology curriculum. ‘Outstanding’ rated SEN School supports young people aged 6 – 19 with a range of diagnosis typically related to Autism and other conditions.
The Role:
As our Class Teacher; your role will be to provide outstanding teaching and learning of Food Technology to our learners, leading to appropriate accreditation/qualifications.
To facilitate this, you’ll plan and deliver lessons according to DFE guidance and the school’s policies and be responsible for the day to day running of the class, including supervision of a Teaching Assistant, and other relevant aspects of the running of the school.
Naturally, you will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity. Additionally; you will also be expected to carefully monitoring the health, well-being and personal care of our pupils; informing care/medical/behavioural support teams and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe, nurturing classroom and school environment for our SEN/ASD learners that helps students to develop as learners
- Consistently plan, resource and deliver differentiated lessons that allow stimulating and enjoyable learning to take place
- To ensure resources are suitably adapted to the needs of groups and individuals to enable all pupils are able to access learning
- Ensure that all students are given quality feedback in order to make effective progress
- Contribute to the development of key skills for all students (Maths, English, life skills)
- Help to maintain/establish excellent standards of behaviour for learning
- Plan and prepare engaging lessons based on agreed schemes of work leading to agreed accreditation or qualifications
- Teach engaging and effective lessons that motivate, inspire and improve student attainment
- Use regular assessments to monitor progress and set targets
- Ensure that all students achieve
- Maintain accurate student data that can be used to make teaching more effective
- Make a positive contribution to our strong school community, reflective of our Aurora values
Responsibilities:
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
- Qualified Teacher status
- Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN
- Experience of working with young people with ASD
- Preferably with prior experience of delivering BTEC home cooking or similar.
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
- Ability to create and maintain nurturing relationships with young people
- Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, to include the students with anxiety.
- Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners important.
Expected salary: £40000 per year
