Position: Food Technology Teacher

Location: Havant

Contract Type: Full-Time

Start Date: November 2023

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the culinary talents of our students. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging and innovative food technology lessons that cater to students of varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Creating a safe and inspiring kitchen environment where students can experiment, develop their practical skills, and explore the world of food.
  • Planning and implementing a diverse range of cooking projects and assignments, encouraging creativity and promoting healthy eating habits.
  • Assessing and providing constructive feedback on students’ practical work, as well as their theoretical understanding of nutrition, food hygiene, and food preparation techniques.
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress, identifying areas for improvement, and offering additional support where necessary.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded curriculum, contributing to departmental meetings, and sharing best practices.
  • Organising and overseeing extracurricular activities, such as cooking clubs and culinary competitions, to enhance students’ passion for food.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with specialized training and experience in Food Technology or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for food and culinary arts, coupled with the ability to inspire and motivate students to explore the subject further.
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene, safety regulations, and current culinary trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • An innovative and adaptable teaching approach, integrating technology and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a desire to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in food technology education.
