Job description: Department: Fund Accounting Employment Type: Full Time Permanent Location: London (hybrid)The Position:The Manager will support their Line Manager in the delivery of the operational service to a portfolio of clients, ensure a high standard of service delivery to clients, train, appraise and motivate the team. The Manager will also support and participate in ad hoc projects with the aim of improving the operational activities of the business and assist in enhancing client experience by providing a âvalue addâ service.Role and Key Responsibilities :You will be in charge of a portfolio of clients and work as part of a team to achieve meet client requirements and ensure adherence to reporting deadlines. Specific responsibilities include:Clients
- Manage production of client quarterly and annual reporting and related accounting activities demonstrating a solid knowledge of complex private equity accounting, waterfalls, equalization, etc.
- Perform reviews of client quarterly and annual reporting and related accounting activities;
- Ensure reporting deliverables are produced in line with the appropriate accounting standards, fund documentation, local regulations, policies and procedures and are produced and reviewed to a high standard and delivered in a timely manner;
- Build excellent working relationships with clients;
- Ensure all work undertaken complies with the clientâs documentation, relevant regulatory requirements and anti-money laundering regulations;
- Review, recommend and implement changes to client deliverable processes;
- Carry out planning of annual audits and liaise with clients to establish timetables for the receipt of valuations and advisers reports and other relevant information.
Internal
- Team management – be proactive in the training and development of the team, motivate and empower team members by building their capabilities, conduct regular 1 to 1 meetings and appraisals with team members;
- Delegate and manage workloads within the team; engage with the team and contribute to the team spirit; promote in-person interaction within the team;
- Build effective relationships across the entire Apex business;
- Ensure the team are kept up to date with changes to accounting standards and regulatory environment impacting the private equity space;
- Manage the set up process of the accounting functions for new funds;
- Oversight of team time/revenue recording, manage the accounting WIP write off process in conjunction with other managers
- Collaborate with other managers in the office to ensure the timely completion of deliverables and cross learning within the team;
- Deputise for the Line Manager in their absence;
- Review, recommend and implement agreed changes to accounting processes and procedures;
- Drive efforts in process improvement initiatives and system enhancements and migration.
- Contribute and participate in new business sales pitches on accounting matters.
Your profile:
- Qualified accountant with at least 6 years accounting experience preferably within private equity fund accounting;
- Direct experience in managing a team
- Ambitious with a high level of energy and commitment
- Strong work ethics, business acumen and excellent communication skills;
- Independent and critical thinking skills to deliver pragmatic solutions, a self-starter;
- Adaptable approach to using appropriate software and systems; and
- Able to build strong client relationships, and take initiative to act without waiting for direction where appropriate.
