Job description: Recra are working in partnership with a leading global organisation who manufacture and install food production machinery, they are looking for an experienced Gas Field Service engineer to grow their expanding business.

Working as part of a team and on your own initiative, you will need to fulfil the needs associated with the installation, commissioning, and servicing/maintenance of gas/oil burner systems. These systems are linked to large industrial heat exchanger units utilised for the heating of cooking oil for the frying process in the ‘Potato Processing, Crisp and Snack Industry.

You will be directly liaising with other installation and commissioning engineers whilst also discussing requirements with the customer/end user. This will require a level of professionalism expected for this type of role.

Your role as a ‘Gas Field Service Engineer’ includes but not limited to the following:

  • Installation supervision of heat exchangers.
  • Commissioning of gas/oil burner systems.
  • Bi-annual maintenance of burners/operating systems.
  • System upgrades.
  • ‘Project Department’ support.
  • Extended overseas travel is often required at short notice.

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • Electrical qualifications with experience on low voltage and measuring instrumentation.
  • Mechanical qualifications with a good knowledge and understanding of process P&ID.
  • Familiarisation in PLC control systems. Siemens/ Allen Bradly.
  • Minimum 3 years industry experience.
  • Ideally from the food, pharmaceutical or other relating process industry – preference will be given to candidates with strong food industry experience.
  • Awareness of Industrial Gas Safety competency requirements, preferably Gas Safe Registered. (Either individually or registered with existing company).
  • A strong engineering background.
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, and flexible approach and willing to travel at sometimes late notice and for extended durations.
  • Excellent people skills and clear communicator with the ability to form strong customer relationships.
  • Computer literate/comfortable with working knowledge of Microsoft Office range of programs.

The Package:

  • Working with a dynamic team of enthusiastic engineers working under own initiative.
  • Varied travel opportunities.
  • Starting base salary circa £35-40k depending on experience/qualifications.
  • You will be expected to work at times a significant amount of overtime in line with business needs. P60 earnings will be considerably higher, OTE £65k plus.
  • A car or van for both business and private use will be provided to allow you to carry out your roll. You will be liable for any private mileage at prevailing rate for car users. i.e., between home and office but all business mileage will be paid for by the company. All maintenance costs will be covered by the company.
  • Whilst there will be a significant amount of travel, the successful candidate will also be expected to attend these offices when not on site or travelling, i.e., these offices are the place of work.
  • All business travel expenses will be covered by the company whilst carrying out your duties.
  • Private medical health scheme membership after qualifying period.
  • Company contributory pension scheme (5%).
  • Yearly ‘company performance related’ bonus scheme.
  • Tools and specialised associated equipment required to carry out your duties will be provided by the company.
  • Mobile Phone for business use and a note-book computer will be provided by the company.
  • Additional training will be provided allowing you update your current competences and to provide you with additional competences. This must be to the benefit of the company.

Expected salary: £42000 – 70000 per year
