About the Role

The General Managers role will be to ensure the efficient, professional and safe day to day running of the Sport and Fitness Centres, in line with objectives of the QMSU Sport Strategy. The role will involve assisting in the development of strategic plans, recruitment and training of staff, whilst implementing policies and procedures.

Queen Mary University of London Students’ Union (the Students’ Union) is a representative and campaigning organization providing high quality services, activities, and opportunities for Queen Mary University of London students. QMSU Services Limited is the wholly-owned subsidiary of the charity (QMSU the Students’ Union). Carrying on the business as a commercial social purpose company, the services are provided principally for students, staff, and guests of the University.

Qmotion is the Students’ Union run Sport & Fitness Centre, located on the Mile End campus, and provides students, staff and the wider community with diverse and inclusive fitness facilities and services to enable an active lifestyle.

About you

We are seeking an experienced individual with significant knowledge of the provision of health and fitness services in the higher education sector.  You will work closely with the Head of Sport to lead the management of the Sport & Fitness Centre and the coordination of associated services and programmes with the aim of increasing activity levels to enhance the wellbeing of the QMUL community. 

You will be responsible for delivering the highest standard of fitness operations, fitness services and customer service and will be responsible for the management and development of the fitness and front of house team, comprised of permanent, casual and freelance staff.  

The facilities are open seven days per week, and this role will incorporate the working of unsociable hours including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
