Job description: As the Matron, you will be responsible for supporting the Head of Nursing, by establishing effective relationships to enable collaborative working to design local improvements.To provide clinical leadership to ward managers in balancing the challenges of providing safe services with excellent outcomes and in a way that delivers efficiencies and meets the expectations of patients and thepublic.To provide clinical leadership to ward managers in delivering person-centred, safe and effective care and develop the leadership capability of others. To maintain a highly visible presence as a role model to staff,patients and visitors by working a minimum of 50% time in clinical practice, this can be through face to face complaints management, hands on patient care or part of ward-based rounds for example.To hold professional accountability for patient safety and effective care with a particular focus on the strategic priorities of handover of care, preventable venous thromboembolic events, practice errors,catheter associated UTIs, falls with harm, pressure ulcers and sepsis.Main duties of the jobo Maintain a visible presence in clinical areas to enable accessibility to staff and patients.o Foster peer support, sharing, learning and review about person-centred practice across the service.o Role model high support and high challenge through giving and receiving feedback about person-centred care and experiences.o Implement and monitor person-centred, compassionate care across the service and the achievement of related action plans.o Role model involvement and engagement of participation of patients, service users and staff in planning,organising and evaluating person-centred care services.o Facilitate local & public, patient involvement and engagemento Courageously speaking up for and listening to patientso Implement systems that ensure that the patient’s voice is heard in all key activities across the organisation including at senior management level.o Working in a person-centred way with otherso Implement and monitor systems for maintaining staff wellbeing, motivation, commitment and jobAbout usWe are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people.
