Graduate Development Engineer

Carbon Capture and Future Fuels

Hybrid role: based in London office with home working

Evero are looking for a graduate to join our Commercial Development team. If you have an interest in energy and sustainability then we want to hear from you.

Our inclusive, high-performance culture provides opportunities to continually learn and develop. You will have the opportunity to get real hands-on experience and contribute to first-of-a-kind carbon capture and future fuels projects. At Evero we firmly believe that our people are our biggest asset, and we care about strengthening our workplace with people who believe in our values just as much as we do. Our ongoing staff training and specialised working groups (including our recent Diversity and Inclusion Group called ‘Wasted Potential’), ensures that as our company continues to grow and develop, our team can grow and develop with us.

About Evero

Evero is an owner and operator of energy from waste assets and the UK leader in gasification. We are exploring development opportunities to deploy carbon capture at our assets and build on our gasification heritage to produce future fuels (hydrogen, SAF, etc.) from waste.

About the opportunity

The role is focused on supporting Evero’s development activities in the areas of carbon capture and future fuels. Reporting to the Head of Development, this role will support Development Managers in the Development Team to deliver new commercial opportunities and projects. This role is critical to achieving success across all stages of Evero’s asset platform, from its significant pipeline of growth opportunities, through to optimisation projects at established operational facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting Development Managers to identify, originate and implement new development opportunities across the existing Evero portfolio and new greenfield sites with a focus on future fuels and carbon solutions.
  • Supporting the identification and due diligence of investments into future fuels and carbon solutions opportunities.
  • Conducting techno-economic research into these areas – creating an evidence base to support which technologies, end uses and markets we prioritise. For example, you could be researching carbon capture utilisation, green hydrogen markets or technologies to produce sustainable aviation or shipping fuel, to name just a few areas.
  • Supporting preparation of business cases and complete tender exercises to deliver key project costs.
  • Developing bids for auctions and allocation processes to secure funding for Evero’s development projects.
  • Technical review and due diligence on engineering studies undertaken by external consultants.
  • Identifying process optimisation opportunities for new projects.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum 2:1 Degree in STEM subject, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite of products including SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with Excel to navigate complex models and understand key sensitivities to value.
  • Ability to demonstrate a knowledge of and active interest in the energy transition areas of focus (carbon capture and future fuels).
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with waste management, energy and EfW sector would be beneficial.
  • Good storyteller to explain issues at hand clearly and effectively.
  • The ability to build good relationships and to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Commercially astute, comfortable data analytics skills and an ability to manage multiple sources of information.
  • Excellent English language skills, in both written and verbal communication, sufficient to meet the needs of a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Existing right to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK.

What we offer

We are proud to play a role in the ongoing efforts to move toward a more sustainable future in energy generation and here you can work with the satisfaction of knowing that everything you do is focused on contributing toward that objective.

Our employee benefits package includes;

  • Private Healthcare
  • Company Pension
  • Annual Bonus (Discretionary)
  • Electric Vehicle Scheme
