Job Description

As a Graduate Land Referencer you will have the opportunity to work with high-profile clients supporting the collation of evidence, documentation and information for acquiring authorities to obtain land for the purposes of large development or infrastructure projects.

You will be involved in some of the UK’s most complex, iconic, and challenging infrastructure projects across various sectors including transport (aviation, rail, highways), utilities, housing, redevelopment, retail, environmental protection, commercial, private and public sectors.

With both international and domestic clients, we are committed to providing quality, innovative and sustainable solutions using the latest technology in civil & structural engineering whilst taking advantage of our integrated range of services by collaborating with other disciplines across AECOM.

We are looking for ambitious, hardworking, enthusiastic graduates who have computational, mathematical and design skills.

Successful candidates will work on a variety of projects from concept design to implementation for clients who operate either locally, nationally, or internationally.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a graduate within the land referencing team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of technical projects, with a wealth of experience from within the team to support you and develop your knowledge and skills. Whilst the precise work will be dependent on current projects, it is likely that your involvement would include:

  • Supporting the wider team in the identification of landowners, occupiers and other parties that hold a legal interest in land
  • Working with our GIS team to interpret spatial data and produce Land Ownership and Access Plans
  • Assisting with onsite land referencing and engaging with affected landowners
  • Assisting in the preparation of statutory documentation and support multi-disciplinary teams in managing land & stakeholder risk for infrastructure projects
  • Client interfacing, telephone, post and email support

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in an area broadly related to land (e.g., Geography, Geospatial science, Estate or Property Management, Planning, Law).
  • Good Microsoft Office skills essential such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external clients, both verbally & in writing with the confidence to engage with a variety of people (clients, colleagues, stakeholders and sub-contractors alike) and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss technical issues and capture feedback
  • Ability to manage a large amount of both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Self-motivation, enthusiasm, hard-working, with ambition and drive
  • Excellent research and report writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues, client and stakeholders as appropriate and independently without losing initiative & focus
  • Ability to work flexibly under pressure, responding to changing project and programme demands
  • A full driving licence would be beneficial as the role will involve travel for site surveys with equipment

Desired

  • Awareness of GIS (desirable)
  • Previous experience of working in a consultancy environment would be beneficial, including work placements or relevant voluntary experience.
  • An interest in planning policy, social impact assessment or environmental issues would be advantageous
