Graduate Teaching Assistant at University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins

Job Description

The opportunity

University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking to recruit 10+ Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) for the BA Architecture or the M-Arch Architecture courses at Central Saint Martins (CSM).

This is a varied role that may involve:

  • Mentoring current students by sharing their experiences of understanding briefs, developing creative processes and demonstrating how their work meets assessment requirements and learning outcomes.
  • Undertaking the sole delivery of small group teaching (e.g. seminars) and contributing to the joint delivery (with senior academic staff) of lectures.
  • Assisting more experienced academic and technical staff in the maintenance of proper conduct in studios and workshops.

GTAs play an important role in assisting students to develop their practical skills as well as building a sense of community in the studios and helping students to see how parts of the courses connect together.

About you

We are looking for Architecture graduates and post-graduates who are looking to develop their teaching and learning skills.

In your personal statement, please provide a paragraph or two explaining why you are interested in the role and how it relates to your skills, experience and interests. Please also provide a portfolio with work samples alongside an updated CV.

Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed and, if considered to be appointable, added to a pool of potential GTAs that may then be called upon at various points during the 2024-25 academic year for short hourly-paid engagements.

You must be resident in the UK to be considered for Graduate Teaching Assistant vacancies.
