The role

We are looking for a Group Management Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team, who provide a key financial management accounting service to the University of Bristol.

As Group Management Accountant you will take responsibility for the production of monthly group management accounts, providing a commentary to explain all material variances. You will also be responsible for producing year-end financial forecasts and provide support to the Financial Accounting Team during the year end process.

You will be the first point of contact for the Faculty and Professional Services Finance teams and need to build strong relationships so that overall quality and deadlines are met. We are striving to improve the robustness and analysis that supports the Management Accounts and therefore you will need a continuous improvement mindset.

What will you be doing?

  • You will take a customer-focused approach to the provision of financial information and analysis for Senior management in relation to financial matters.
  • Supporting production of year-end financial statements and liaison with external auditors.
  • You will advise and make recommendations to other Finance teams, and continually identify improvements in quality and efficiency.

You should apply if

  • You hold or are in final stages of studying towards an Accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or able to demonstrate a similar level of knowledge gained through experience.
  • You have experience of preparing management accounts.
  • You have an aptitude for working with finance and non-finance specialists and a customer service focused attitude.
  • A good communicator, you can organise workloads effectively and work well under pressure.
