Job Description
This is a newly created position in the business. Following separation from a FTSE 250 PLC, the Fastmarkets finance team have to establish some new finance functionality and this role is critical in being part of a team that delivers the functionality with associated processes, and establishes them as business as usual.
The role will require a highly dynamic individual, who can implement, document, execute group tax processes (direct and indirect tax) covering EMEA, APAC and the USA.
Principal Accountabilities
- Manage the overall relationship with our outsourced tax advisor, PwC and ensure optimal split between in-house and outsourced activities.
- Maintain strong relationships with the PwC tax teams globally using the PwC engagement centre to monitor global tax submissions.
- Complete the implementation of the PwC indirect tax system, EDGE, designing processes to load data into EDGE and establishing a tax timetable to ensure data is loaded in line with submission deadlines.
- Devise and implement processes to review and approve VAT returns on Avalara prior to auto submission, and to reconcile Avalara returns with Netsuite.
- Establish processes to monitor sales tax thresholds in Avalara to ensure registrations with relevant regulatory authorities can be made in a timely manner
- Establish processes to monitor requirements for new indirect tax registrations across the business.
- In alignment with global PwC teams assist in designing a process to estimate the current financial year tax liability, which will enable payments on account to be made.
- Lead the implementation of non-UK direct tax compliance, including the handover of tax knowledge from our former parent company, ensuring Fastmarkets and PwC have access to all the global tax portals as required, ensure appropriate approvals are in place for local returns, add to the tax timetable to ensure all quarterly payments are made on time.
- Establish processes to monitor and manage tax queries and action as needed, for example, arranging CORs needed by clients, W9/W8/10F forms etc.
- Devise tax strategy and document core processes
- Support acquisition and other group projects including implementation of Transfer Pricing policy
- Maintain a strong risk and control framework around tax processes.

Experience
- Qualified accountant, with post-qualified accounting experience with a focus on global tax exposure (direct and indirect taxes).
- Experience implementing processes and systems
- Experience in a fast paced environment
- Experience of influencing senior colleagues and demonstratable desire to do the right thing even when under challenge.
Skills and knowledge
- Can challenge current practices and think innovatively in executing work.
- Able to take the lead in designing and implementing processes.

- Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word and Accounting Systems.
