Job Description

We are currently looking for a Head of Curriculum and Student Engagement to join ONCAMPUS central functions on a full-time, fixed-term contract basis (maternity cover).

The role is Homebased in the United Kingdom.

The post-holder is a senior member of the central ONCAMPUS team and will lead on all curriculum development and student engagement strategies for ONCAMPUS.  This will include both ongoing current curriculum in all centres, and new products (including those for new centres, and bespoke offerings outside of the centralised curriculum).

The role holder will efficiently manage curriculum development and ongoing assessment requirements and lead on student voice  and engagement activities, including developing the ONCAMPUS Student Voice Strategy.

Key responsibilities within this role include:

  • To project manage the development of new programmes, including assisting with liaison with key staff within ONCAMPUS and university partners.  To manage the production of the requisite programme documentation (programme/module specifications, delivery details, etc.) for programme approval.  To lead on programme approval events including identifying external reviewers and chairing/minuting programme approval events.  To undertake necessary follow-up work after a programme approval event to ensure the programme is fully quality assured and able to be delivered, including identifying pathway leader staffing needs and other resources.
  • To ensure that curriculum developers produce all relevant materials to the required standard for students to understand what they will be taught, how the curriculum will be delivered, and how they will be assessed. 
  • To assist with the review of curriculum development specialist staffing in conjunction with the Deputy Chief Academic Officer to ensure current and future curriculum development needs are fully resourced to meet the ONCAMPUS standards required. 
  • To lead on the collation of student complaints and compliments data from centres to inform Academic Board and the CEG UFP Ltd Board on any patterns arising. To assist the Chief Academic Officer in managing student appeals, including any which are escalated to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator.
  • To act as a member of the academic office team including acting as part of the audit team in inspecting operations in each Centre and assisting in the production of reports.  Serving as programme development representative in all relevant committees supporting the academic and operational quality of ONCAMPUS.
  • Plan and deliver a range of projects as required by the Chief Academic Officer to help achieve the team objectives of quality improvement.

Key background, experience and skills expected:

Education

  • Postgraduate qualification (PhD desirable)
  • Recent relevant management experience in HE, with a focus on quality assurance and/or programme development

Experience

  • Relevant experience of working in the UK HE sector in a programme development/quality assurance position with a demonstrable record of achievement in developing programmes suitable for delivery to international students in embedded colleges.
  • Current experience of working with the UK Quality Code, and interpreting this appropriately.
  • Experience of managing the quality enhancement of programme development, including leading on programme approval events.
  • Good understanding of the needs of international students.
