Description of Post

Heads of Department are key members of academic management, responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Department, its academic programmes and resources. 

This Head of Department will lead and develop the Department of Engineering Technology which includes the apprenticeship trades of electrical, toolmaking and carpentry & joinery. This department may include additional apprenticeship/work-based learning programmes in the future. The successful candidate will project manage the rollout out of the expansion of the apprenticeship provision.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants for this position must have as a minimum:

1. A relevant first or second class Honours degree in an Engineering, Construction or related discipline from a recognized awarding authority or an approved equivalent * and;
2. Not less than five years relevant and acceptable experience in an Engineering, Construction or related discipline subsequent to obtaining the qualifications referred to in (a) above
3. Applicants must have the necessary technical and administrative expertise to lead and manage professional teams to develop and deliver relevant programmes of study which respond to the needs of students, industry and the wider community.
