The salary for this role is made up of £39,000 basic and a monthly bonus between £600 – £1000 per month.
Aviation Recruitment Network Limited are a leading agency that provides technical staffing solutions for all major Airports across the UK.
We are currently working closely in partnership with a global client who is now seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their team of existing Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technicians at their Birmingham Airport based workshop.
This position will require the successful individual to provide rotating cover for an out of hours service to customers at Birmingham Airport and East Midlands Airports.
The duties of the HGV Mechanic will be:
- Day-to-day maintenance, repair, and servicing of HGV vehicles
- Repair and maintenance of heavy plant machinery used at the airport.
- Conduct repairs to hydraulic, pneumatics, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Conduct safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT inspections.
- Using diagnostic equipment to diagnose faults.
The essential skills and experience required for this HGV Mechanic role are:
- HGV 2 licence
- City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or equivalent qualification
- Understanding of HGV mechanical repairs from fault to diagnostic to repair
- The ability to read and understand designs and schematics.
- A strong mechanical background in either HGV vehicle or plant machinery
- A 5-year checkable history to work within the secure areas of the airport.
In return, the HGV Mechanic will receive the following benefits:
- £39,000 – £47,000 per annum
- Bonus scheme £600 – £1,000 per month
- Payment of £80 for each out of hours job.
- 28 days leave plus Bank Holidays
- Monday to Friday 0800 hrs – 1600 hrs
- Overtime is available between the hours of 4pm to 8pm.
- Free onsite parking
Any experience as a GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Mechanic, Plant Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, HGV Technician or Maintenance Technician Access from a similar industry will be considered highly advantageous.
