Job description: Description and requirementsSkanska, one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups, is an inclusive and responsible business that is helping to build a better society.We are looking for an HR Director to join our Business Unit (BU) HR Leadership Team and to be responsible for HS2, this role will be based in Leavesden.The purpose of this role is to partner with the senior management teams of designated Operating Units & Enabling Functions (EFs), leading a business focussed HR team on the development & delivery of strategic business & people solutions, in conjunction with shared specialist resources and ‘one Skanska’ philosophy.As part of the BU HR Leadership Team, collaborate with the HR Central functions to develop and deliver strategy aligned to the Skanska Group and BU Strategic goals.What you’ll do:Strategic HR Business Partnering
- Provision of high-quality business partnering to allocated Operating Unit / Enabling Function, based upon thorough understanding of business direction & goals, and in line with Skanska’s values and purpose.
- Credibility as an effective senior leader as part of both the HR Leadership team and OU/EF Leadership team, and able to influence decision making.
- Effective leadership of HR Operations Team within OU/EF.
Skills and Capability
- Ensure OU/EF workforce plan is in place and being delivered, supporting delivery of the business plan in line with revenue forecast, and ensuring the OU/EF has the right skills in the right place at the right time.
- In conjunction with the central Talent and Capability Team ensure learning needs (OU and individual) are identified and met.
- Drives learning across projects and the wider business (Learn Fast) Performance Management
- Manage employee relations matters effectively to secure and develop a high-performance culture.
- Ensure all BU annual HR processes are delivered accurately and in line with expectations.
- Ensure that via the annual PDR process, all employees have goal and development plans.
Safe, Well & Highly Engaged Teams
- Lead engagement & pulse surveys, using analysis of outputs to drive industry leading engagement levels across the OU identify any requirements for intervention.
- Ensure absence levels are effectively managed and trends identified and acted upon.
Develop Excellent Leaders
- Ensure OU/EF has effective talent management process in place, in line with overall BU process. Diverse succession plans in place & being actioned for all senior positions (both short- & longer-term focus).
Leadership in Inclusion & Diversity
- Champion and role model Inclusive leadership behaviours at all times.
- Addressing under representation through attraction & recruitment of a diverse workforce and ensure retention through the promotion of an inclusive workplace culture.
- Ensure that the OU/EF are utilising relevant corporate initiatives to build a diverse and inclusive talent pipeline.
Analytics and Data
- Use data and analytics from various sources (attraction, retention, absence, engagement etc.) to understand organisational heath (current and trends) to inform OU / EF people plans.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Proven delivery in the core areas of generalist HR at senior level.
- Proven experience of championing and improving Inclusion and Diversity.
- Management of business and people change.
- Forecasting and planning.
- Strong commercial & business understanding.
- A thorough and up to date knowledge of employment law, and experience of practical application.
- Track record of building credible relationships at all levels.
- Resilient – able to face challenges proactively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the right balance of empathy and rigour.
- CIPD qualified or equivalent
