You will focus on industrial connectivity to meet customer specifications and support designs that can be manufactured cost effectively while meeting customer requirements.This position reports to the Sr Technologist.What You’ll Be Doing

  • Participate in the investigation, design, implementation, optimization, and characterization of new products and features
  • Solve complex problems for safety products and industrial communications protocols using state of the art embedded software tools and practices.
  • Learn and debug connectivity solutions for industrial automation applications.
  • Support and improve existing developer tools.
  • Educating and supporting your interests in:
  • Emerging automation technology, industrial safety systems and sensors
  • Industrial connectivity and industrial communications protocols
  • Developing embedded applications in a collaborative team environment
  • Integrating software with low-level circuit components using best in class oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Ethernet and Industrial Communications Protocols like MODBUS, EtherCAT, PROFINET and Ethernet/IP
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Automation, Process Control, or related field
  • Completion of at least three classes in Engineering or Computer Engineering or related fields
  • Competency with programming languages (C, assembly, other)
  • Basic understanding of Industrial Automation, Process Control and/or Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Basic understanding of Communications Technologies like Ethernet, low-level TCP/IP and corresponding debug tools like Wireshark
  • Good analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Proven effectiveness in verbal and written communication

Preferred

  • Familiarity with command-line tools and source-control systems such as Git
  • Basic understanding of microcontroller architecture, embedded systems, and microcontroller programming
  • Basic understanding of real-time operating systems like FreeRTOS or Zephyr and their principles of operation
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP programming and Berkeley Socket API
  • Basic understanding of Industrial Communications protocols like MODBUS, Ethernet/IP or others
  • Basic understanding of industrial process control and factory automation applications
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
