Job description: About usInformation Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We support and enhance learning, teaching, research and administrative processes by providing information- and technology-related services to over 50,000 staff and students of UCL and associated institutions.Our goal is to be the leading IT services group in the HE sector and we are growing our team’s capability in experience/UX, agile development, security, cloud, service management and partnering. We are modernising our technology foundations, digitising the processes of the university to transform experience for students and staff, and partnering across the university to drive differentiation in UCL education and research.Within ISD, this post is in the Chief Information Security Office (CISO) which leads on all aspects of security at UCL. CISO is divided into two teams covering Security Operations and Governance, Risk and Compliance.The purpose of the Information Security Group is to help UCL identify, understand and manage risks relating to Cyber Security.The work of the team is divided into:
- Governance, Risk and Compliance: Articulating university policy, measuring risk and reporting on progress
- Security Awareness and Training: Raising staff and student awareness of security issues and providing training in secure ways of working
- Security Operations: Managing UCL’s security tools and responding to requests and investigating incidents
- Security Architecture: Providing guidance on how to build secure solutions.
Security needs to protect and support the work of the University. The team works with a strong ethos of saying “How to” rather than “Don’t Do”. The aim is to guide teams; whether working in professional services, education, or research to deliver in a secure way.About the roleAs an Information Security Officer, you’ll provide first line of support for (information) security at the University focussing on the following:
- Answering questions raised by staff or students via the UCL enterprise Service Management tool.
- Investigating reports from security tools deployed by the university.
You will be working within an Agile environment and use the Scaled Agile Framework delivery approach to deliver improvements to the services offered by ISG to the University. Additionally, you’ll act as a point of contact for one of the IT delivery Portfolios, building an understanding of the work they do and the security challenges they face and becoming a trusted advisor.Please note, this is an Internal recruitment advert, available to eligible UCL workers only.
