Job description: This position requires an experienced Financial Accountant with knowledge and skills in the Accounting & Finance department, particularly within the Public Sector and Government industry. The ideal candidate will be able to handle financial audits, prepare reports, and manage budgets effectively.

The key Responsibilities for the Interim Financial Accountant:

  • Conducting financial audits and preparing audit findings reports
  • Provide effective leadership to all areas of the finance team i.e. technical accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, income and the management accounts function
  • Developing and managing budgets in accordance with organisational needs
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Ensuring compliance with financial laws and regulations
  • Analysing financial data and providing recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborating with other departments to streamline financial operations
  • Implementing financial policies and procedures
  • Assisting in the development of financial strategies and plans

A successful Financial Accountant should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid understanding of financial laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and conduct financial audits
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
