Job Description

The facility at Hemel Hempstead manufactures trace detection equipment based on Ion Mobility Spectrometry technology and products such as the Ionscan 600 and the Lightweight Chemical Detector have an excellent reputation for performance and reliability in worldwide use.
The primary responsibility of this position is the development and execution of all global internal communications and employee engagement programmes with an aim to build internal understanding of the global Smiths Detection business strategy, culture and values.
You will be required to evolve our internal comms channels and content to better connect our colleagues (including remote colleagues) and effectively communicate our purpose and vision.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for effective communication, a keen understanding of diverse communication channels, and the ability to craft compelling messages that resonate with various audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
- Develop and deliver end-to-end internal communications that support the businesses’ culture, growth ambitions and business priorities.
- Write expertly crafted communications that are simple, clear and straightforward.
- Coordinate, plan and deliver employee engagement events and activities aimed at improving our employee satisfaction and sense of belonging, both in-person and virtually, inclusive of talking points, scripts and presentations
- Create engaging content through strong story telling using various channels to drive audiences to action.
- Develop digital content for a range of channels including email, intranet, internal social media channels, video.
- Take complex information and create clear messages that are relevant to the audience.
- Advising stakeholders on effective communications including channels mix, presentation support, communications planning, key messages development, and best practice.
- Proactively develop and manage the administration required to coordinate our Employee Engagement Networks.
- Track communication metrics to identify key learnings, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support the wider Marketing and Communication function as required.
About you
- 5+ years’ experience using internal social media, creating digital content and event co-ordination with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Storytelling and messaging
- Communications using digital and traditional media
- Events organisation (physical, hybrid and/or virtual)
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Creative mindset with the ability to think strategically and deliver impactful communication campaigns.
