We are currently looking for a limited number of Interns to join our Water and Ecology Practice. The position offers a diverse role, supporting projects and clients across the UK, and occasionally beyond, carrying out projects encompassing a hydro-ecology focus. The internships will commence in March 2024 for an initial period of 3 months.
Key responsibilities
- Support senior staff with fieldwork, literature reviews and data analysis.
- Manage your time related to the tasks you are asked to complete.
- Work closely with your colleagues to understand your tasks and how they interrelate to overall programmes of work.
- Be a team player.
Key competencies and experience
- Final year student in a relevant environmental field.
- Demonstrable understanding of the links between, water, physical processes, habitats and land management.
- Demonstrable understanding of environmental policy that underpins environmental requirements, plus experience/understanding of a range of the following:
- Water (quality, physical processes, quantity (both surface and groundwater under drought and flood conditions).
- Ecology (terrestrial, aquatic, fisheries, marine, Invasive species).
- Ecology and water fieldwork.
- Experience of using GIS and coding (e.g., R/R studio).
- Environmental monitoring and conceptual modelling related to a range of ecology and water topics
- Environmental Assessment trend analysis.
Skills and behaviours
- We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about the environment, eager to learn and looking for a longer-term career in environmental consultancy that specialises in environmental assessment of a large range of water and ecology topics.
- Confident and able to communicate with peers and managers.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- A flexible approach to working (able to adapt to different tasks).
- Attention to detail and excellent written skill.
- Keen to carry out fieldwork, report writing and technical analysis.
- Clean driving licence.
