Job description: Sammons Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with an established global manufacturing group, based in Aldershot, with the aim of supporting them find a Commercial Inventory and Cost Analyst with a passion for data and cutting costs. This role will sit within the finance function reporting into the Group Operations Manager. You will take sole responsibility for all things costs, stock, overheads and data across multiple international sites.
The Role:
You will be an Inventory and Cost Analyst to help analyse, audit, and cost our operations in terms of inventory for the UK and International business. Reviewing stock levels in line with production plans to ensure the business hold the right amount of stock. This role will also be heavily involved in cost saving in terms of overheads and stock products.
You will be the go-to person for generating critical reports for management to make improved clearer decisions. You will be exposed to projects on a group level, which will require the development of the knowledge of business operations across the group.
The day to day tasks will consist of purchasing control, stock management, report generation and cost analysis across the group as outlined below:
Purchasing
- Identify and develop relationships with key Vendors – ensuring the correct documentation is in place for both existing and new vendors.
- Collaborate with other departments and the BUs to identify supply needs.
- Monitor and reduce procurement costs while improving efficiency.
- Understand the manufacturing and production processes of the company.
- UK 3rdparty product purchasing – maintaining the ERP (Navision) with current costs from the Vendor and highlighting when costs need to be re-negotiated. Any cost increases will need to be analysed as to the impact on product costs/overheads.
- UK warehouse stock purchasing for GROUP central products that will be stored and shipped from the UK.
- Involved in organising international shipments and gain knowledge of UK import processes and Global Export processes.
Stock Management
- Ensure that inventory levels are sufficient to always meet the demands of customers.
- Ability to review and highlight overstocking to prevent storage issues and free up company’s cash for other operations.
- Work with all BUs to optimise stock levels and reduce the cost of logistics. Also review slow moving stock and obsolete stock levels regularly to generate profit across the GROUP.
- Monitoring stock levels of key products and reporting on these.
- Maintain and refine the Item Master across the GROUP – ensuring accurate brand reporting.
- Ensure perpetual inventory checks are complete and any adjustments are approved and sent to the Finance department for processing.
Group Cost Control and Analysis
- Collect data to identify areas within the business that can be improved and identify statistical trends.
- Suggest improvements to the business processes and maximise efficiency and revenue whilst actively looking to save costs.
- Analysing group costs including overheads and stock which will involve looking into all contracts (terms and monthly costs) to see where we can save excess costs and try to ensure efficiency across the GROUP.
- Report generation for management meetings.
- Monitor changes in processes or methods to calculate effects on overall costs.
- Forecast and analyse costs of processes, labour, and inventory.
- Standard cost analysis – review key products throughout the year Actual V Standard
- Review costs against Budget and provide a variance analysis.
Projects
- Business intelligence reporting.
- Bar Code implementation across all warehouses and factories within the GROUP
The Candidate:
- Graduate degree.
- Comfortable and admirably adapted to technology.
- Experience with Excel and Microsoft Products
- Knowledge of business development and how to drive efficiencies.
- Previous experience in Cost Analysis and reduction.
- Procurement cost management and analysis skills
- Knowledge of supplier agreements and contract management
- Experience in procurement, inventory management or supply chain management.
- Excellent people skills
- Ability to multi-task and have strong analytical skills.
- Ability to be able to distinguish between reliable and unreliable data.
- Excellent diligence
- Strong social skills, communication, and teamwork
- Good organisational skills (Project planning and Forecasting)
- Results orientated.

Expected salary: £35000 – 40000 per year
