Reporting to the IT Security & Infrastructure Manager, you will investigate infrastructure problems and improve performance through proactive and reactive monitoring and support issues raised by end users or clients. To research, recommend and implement changes that improve efficiency, stability and performance. Develop an in depth knowledge of Calero’s global Cloud, Office and Data Center environments and become an infrastructure SME in this space to mentor others in the team.You will have a good technical depth of knowledge across infrastructure hardware, software, OS, and vendor applications, understand how services are configured and secured, be confident in diagnosing issues through integrating logs and report data.As an IT infrastructure Engineer you will be expected to keep up to date with the latest technologies, and work alongside IT Operations, engineering and site reliability teams to drive overall efficiency through our IT systems to meet our customers’ needs.Duties and Responsibilities of the job:

  • Maintain and support Calero’s global infrastructure components, physical and virtual, to ensuring best practices are applied, delivering a high level of performance and stability. This includes but not limited to; networking, servers, firewalls, SAN’s
  • Develop knowledge, and where relevant obtain certification, in the hardware and services which underpin Calero’s hosted solutions.
  • Support projects, which include the deployment of large scale business or end users’ changes, and produce fault finding guides for IT Operations.
  • Investigate recurring issues raised by IT Operations to help resolve and mitigate.
  • Working with IT Teams, develop methods to improve monitoring of services across all environments.
  • Support escalated issues, taking ownership of assigned IT Infrastructure investigations and delivering solutions to resolve or mitigate the issue to return services to normal as soon as possible.
  • Investigate and suggest solutions to improve Business continuity and Data Recovery.
  • Contribute into and maintain existing articles in the technology wiki to help others in the team and division to understand how to deal with common issues, configurations and how to use the service effectively.
  • Assist with the offboarding of IT services being replaced or decommissioned
  • Assist with the IT Infrastructure upgrades ensuring our platforms are modern and secure.
  • Provide escalation for IT Operations and assist during changes or during busy periods.
  • Attend seminars, research online publications, and take part in other events to improve knowledge of the current IT landscape and how these can benefit Calero.
  • Liaise between other departments on infrastructure related items.

Education:

  • IT certifications in Microsoft, Cloud, Networking or other related IT services
  • A minimum of 3 years’ related experience working in a technical role. Consideration may be given to a candidate with a technical degree in lieu of experience.

Technical Knowledge and Experience

  • Required knowledge in delivering and managing network infrastructure using common services/protocols across routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, access control lists, firewalls, VPN, NAT and network traffic analysis.
  • 3 or more years’ experience managing and configuring Microsoft server platforms and services
  • 3 or more years’ experience managing and configuring Linux server platforms and services
  • Strong working knowledge managing VMware and Hyper-V environments
  • Experience working in Azure using both IaaS and PaaS
  • Knowledge of security network devices (firewalls, switches, SIEM, anti-virus, cryptography, etc.) and other security networking hardware/software tools.
  • Demonstrate understanding of information security concepts, standards, practices, including but not limited to; firewalls, intrusion prevention and detection, TCP/IP and related protocols, device monitoring and log management and event monitoring/reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability attend to/prioritize projects.
  • Demonstrable analytical and technical aptitude with focus on identifying and alleviating the root cause of the issue; solves the whole problem.
  • Proven ability to thrive and respond to frequent demands of multiple constituents, both internal and external, in a customer centric manner and high demand environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in a collaborative environment.
