Key Responsibilities:
As an IT Officer, you’ll be the go-to person for 1st line support, ensuring a seamless experience for all College users and guests. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with the IT Manager to maintain, develop, and document the College’s IT infrastructure.
- Providing cover for the IT Manager during their absence.
- Offering support to users in equipment procurement, maintenance, repair, training, and advice.
- Ensuring the upkeep, updating, and development of the College’s IT infrastructure.
- Responding to security and copyright issues, providing desktop support, and managing user devices.
- Deploying and managing desktop computers, operating systems, applications, and VoIP phones.
- Engaging in relevant training and self-improvement to develop specialist skills.
- Contributing to local and cross-College projects under the guidance of the IT Manager.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Proficiency in client operating systems (especially Windows), Microsoft Office, and email clients like Microsoft Outlook.
- Experience with Windows Active Directory, File and Print knowledge, DHCP & DNS.
- Basic knowledge of Virtualisation technologies such as VMware vSphere.
- Strong understanding of PC hardware and modern network infrastructure.
- Audio-visual experience, including data projectors and PA systems.
- Customer-focused with the ability to communicate technical issues effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels.
- Problem-solving skills to analyzeand resolve technical and non-technical issues.
- Positive and helpful attitude towards work and colleagues.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and work occasional unusual hours when necessary.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of Ghost Solution Suite or a similar desktop management environment.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and design.
- Familiarity with at least one flavorof Linux.
- Experience in a modern programming language such as C#, VB.NET, or PowerShell.
- Qualification in Microsoft Client operating systems.
- Familiarity with the Oxford collegiate system.
