Position Overview:

As an IT Project Manager at Nuclear IT Services within Generation, your primary responsibility is to oversee and ensure the successful delivery of small, medium, and moderately complex projects or work streams within major change programs. You will work within the constraints of scope, quality, time, and cost to meet specified customer requirements. Your role also involves managing project progress, budgets, risks, issues, and variances, while ensuring that the projects you lead produce results capable of achieving the benefits defined in the business case.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Execution: Define, document, and safely execute medium or moderately complex projects or work streams, following agreed methodologies and standards.
2. Project Planning: Prepare and maintain realistic project and quality plans.
3. Resource Estimation: Effectively estimate cost, timescales, and resource requirements for successful project delivery within the agreed scope.
4. Performance Monitoring: Monitor project performance against the plan and take corrective actions when deviations occur.
5. Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Project Board and Senior Management as required.
6. Leadership: Provide effective leadership to the project team, ensuring team members are motivated and continuously developing their skills and experience.
7. Task Allocation: Allocate tasks to team members and appraise individual performance against agreed objectives.
8. Stakeholder Relations: Actively represent the project team and build and maintain effective relationships with the business.
9. Project Assurance: Agree on any delegation and use of Project Assurance roles required by the Project Board and/or Project/Programme Manager.
10. Risk Management: Manage project risks, including the development of contingency plans.
11. Direction and Integrity: Liaise with the management team and/or Project Board to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project/business case/work stream.
12. Supplier Management: Manage external suppliers when appropriate.
13. Project Closure: Ensure the project is formally closed, and lessons learned are captured and acted upon.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Knowledge: Possess and apply human performance tools and nuclear safety culture principles to enhance safe and reliable operation. Understand nuclear safety, license conditions, security regulation, and compliance as they apply to IT Projects, products, and services. Have a good understanding of IT Portfolio, Programme, and Project Management methodologies, including Agile.
  • Skills: Able to persuade, influence, and build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across the company. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate at different levels across the company. Possess excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach, focusing on standards and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and delegate as required and thrive in a challenging and demanding role, working well under pressure. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead others. Strong financial acumen.
  • Qualifications: Prince 2 accredited or equivalent.
  • Experience: Ability and experience in directing moderate projects/work streams. Project management experience with moderate projects/work streams. Experience in PMO disciplines. Experience in the delivery of in-house developments and third-par
