Job description: About The Role
HomeServe are currently recruiting for an IT Project Manager to join the Technology & Change Team in Walsall. The ideal candidate will be self motivated, able to manage their own workload and have both business & technical project management delivery experience.
You will be expected to be very articulate and able to demonstrate your communication skills up to Director level. You will also be required to show evidence of an end to end project delivery.
We work in a hybrid way, mostly remote with a requirement to travel into our Walsall office as and when required or to be with your team. With that in mind, you will be located within a convenient commute to Walsall.
The Tech & Change Team are responsible for providing all technology services across HomeServe in the UK, running the services that underpin the business and delivering change to provide new capability and enhance value on an ongoing basis.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Take ownership – accountable for the delivery of the project following briefing from the head of delivery or project sponsor,
- Mobilisation – stands up the project team, mobilises resources and establishes the project governance (within the appropriate waterfall/ agile / DSDM / Scrum framework)
- Plan – produces and maintains the project plan and milestone plan (detailing activities and critical path) to control and report progress, highlighting any deviances as appropriate (e.g. resource challenges).
- Project Logs – maintains an effective Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies & Change (RAIDC) log. All risks and issues to be accurately reported and mitigating actions identified / proactively progressed. Scope changes to be formally assessed for impact;
- Benefits & Costs – responsible for the tracking of the defined project benefits (highlighting and managing any risks to the benefits case) and control of costs within the agreed budget;
- Communications – engages with key stakeholders and communication business partners to provide visibility and confidence that the project is being properly managed and responsible for the production of regular and accurate progress reports -highlighting any breach of agreed tolerances;
- Requirements & Solution – owns the content and quality of the requirements & solution design outputs and ensures alignment with the stated project outcome;
- Build & Test – supports the development and validation of the solution to ensure that the stated business needs are met;
- Business Readiness – establishes that the solution and the transition plan for the business are ready for go live and that any outstanding deliverables are understood, agreed and assigned / de-scoped;
- Project Closure & Lessons Learned – achieves formal project close down and records all lessons learned to ensure that all key learnings are captured for future reference – recommending any immediate actions that may be appropriate.
About You
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following knowledge, skills and attributes:
ESSENTIAL
- Experience of leading large / complex projects within multi-stakeholder, matrix managed environments, budget upto 500k using a variety of methodologies (minimum 3 years)
- Experience of delivering end to end IT system and business change projects including (requirements analysis, design, build, test, transition into service, business implementation).
- Experience of working on multiple projects at any given time
- Experience of managing project revenue and capex budgets, resource forecasts
- Experienced in reporting to senior level
- Experience of managing, measuring and reporting on the performance of the project
- Experience of matrix managing all of the resources required to deliver the project
- Influential and articulate presentation skills
- Degree Level Qualification or minimum 3 -5 years business experience;
- Relevant Professional Qualification: PRINCE2 Practitioner / APMP / PMI / DSDM (agile PM)
- Computer literate – specifically in Google, MS Office, Project & Visio (or other process modelling tool);
- Able to contribute to continuous improvement activities across the function
DESIRABLE
- Knowledge of waterfall, agile and scrum based methodologies
- Experience of delivering projects using an agile methodology, is highly desirable.
- Experience of working in a matrix managed / FCA regulated / insurance environment would be beneficial.
