We are seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic Life Technology Solutions team in Birmingham, UK. In this role, you will provide IT support to our team members in the UK, and work closely with IT teams in other locations including New York, Chicago and Seattle to successfully implement practice and company wide policies. You will be expected to go the extra mile, to ensure our compliance with auditable controls, and that our processes and procedures are keeping our clients’ data secure.

Who we’re looking for
Successful candidate for this position should be comfortable working in a global dynamic team environment and collaborating with colleagues at all levels. While part of a team, you will be expected to be able to work independently, taking ownership of assigned work and initiatives.
You will have good experience in all aspects of server / endpoint IT ranging from Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows OS installation, configuration and patching, software packaging and deployment, and hardware procurement. You will work closely and apply IT policies in line with our Chicago based IT team and corporate IT team based in Seattle, so the ability to communicate on both a technical level and non-technical level where appropriate is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Provide end user support for all systems and applications supported by NY Metro IS.
- Work with Milliman GCS IT to troubleshoot GCS managed systems and applications.
- Monitor all systems including servers, storage systems, and virtualization environment.
- Utilize patch management systems to update applications and operating systems for all supported systems.
- Utilize and maintain system (hardware\software) assets in asset management system.
- Install, configure, and maintain all computing devices and peripherals.
- Install and update application software both manually and with software package deployment tools.
- Perform user and computer account administration in active directory.
- Maintain telephony accounts and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot PC hardware, operating system, applications network connectivity, and peripheral issues.
- Perform data backup and restore tasks.
- Perform user on-board and off-board related tasks.
- Document all user and system support activities in the helpdesk ticket system.
- Maintain\utilize state-of-the-art techniques and technical knowledge to implement and support information systems.
- Follow departmental procedures including information security, asset management, change management, and vulnerability management.
- Liaise with suppliers and end users in the purchase of IT equipment
- Work on-site in the Birmingham office to support on-site systems and users. Occasional expensed travel to the Southampton office may be required.
Qualifications and Key Attributes:
Required
- Experience managing Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
- Experience of OS update deployment, software packaging and deployment tools.
- Experience supporting remote users across a global organization.
- Strong experience in the IT field including operations and helpdesk support.
- Excellent IT troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in supporting current versions of Microsoft Windows PC\server operating systems, and Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management skills;
- Strong Team player, able to work independently
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly and correctly express technical concepts (verbal & written).
