We are now supporting one of the country’s leading schools based in the very scenic Tring area in Hertfordshire in finding their new IT Support Technician.
You’d be joining a small and friendly team as part of this role and will be providing on-site support, so you would need to be in a commutable distance to Tring, this role is 100% office based.
Day-to-day you’ll be involved in the support and maintenance of all IT systems, hardware and software, which includes all printing, audio visual equipment, desktop and mobile devices, with a large portion of the role spent providing tech support, training and guidance to students and staff.
We need this person to be great with people as you’ll be providing support and guidance to staff and pupils of all ages and level of technical knowledge, as well as the ability to work in quite a demanding and pressured environment at times.
Of course, any experience working with a school, educational body, charity or similar would be great, but relevant experience is most important.
The job will be paying £34,080 to £36,210 for the right person, plus some benefits that include free hot and cold meals daily, good pension, 28 days holiday + bank holidays and staff discounts. As well as free on-site parking, cycle to work schemes and working in magical grounds daily.
As mentioned above too, you must be able to get in daily, this position is fully site based due to the needs of the staff/pupils and the hours are 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Main duties
- Providing first and second line support to the staff and student body
- Maintaining, updating & monitoring IT systems
- IT administration, adding users, asset tracking, MIS tasks
- Creating and updating IT documentation and help guides
- IT hardware replacement cycles
- Assisting with project delivery
Person Specification
- Demonstrable experience in customer facing technical support roles, 1st line support experience essential.
- Strong communication skills and highly articulate – whether in person, by phone or by email
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes
- Analytical and problem solving skills, a logical thinker
- Ability to work accurately and calmly under pressure
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Effective team working
- Good at relationship building and a calm and patient manner
- Excellent time management skills
- Accurate administration skills
- Reliability and integrity and must be trustworthy as will be handling sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to configure and fault find with:
- Microsoft client and server operating systems
- Active Directory & Group policy
- Networking, DHCP, DNS and VLAN’s
- Wireless, web filtering and antivirus management systems
- IT infrastructure
- Software packages
- Printers and audio visual equipment
