As a Junior Business Analyst, you will have a strong foundation in analysing datasets and turning data into actionable insights or recommendations to stakeholders across the company. You will also have a keen interest in government policy and capability building. This role is crucial for evaluating government training programmes designed to enhance policy impact and implementation, meeting ongoing funder and partner reporting requirements, and supporting our sales function with data intelligence insights.Key responsibilities

  • Own and maintain internal data models and data pipeline.
  • Collect, clean, and analyse datasets from multiple sources to extract meaningful insights.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards (we use ThoughtSpot LiveBoards), reports, and visualisations to communicate evaluation findings and support the sales team with data insights.
  • Conduct thorough data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that inform our evaluation, reporting, and sales strategies and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Partnerships Team to understand business objectives and requirements, and translate it into data-driven solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains based on data insights.
  • Stay informed about best practices in industry trends, data analysis, and policy implementation within government contexts to inform partnership strategies.

Requirements

  • At least two years of work experience in business intelligence, with a keen eye for detail and data accuracy.
  • Strong ability to process and analyse both quantitative and qualitative data required. Mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative research) background preferred.
  • Prior experience using, developing, or maintaining reporting tools (e.g. Google Sheets or other software) is required. Understanding of BigQuery and related languages (SQL, Python, as well as data visualisation tools (ThoughtSpot, Google Data Studio/Looker, Tableau) preferred.
  • Storytelling and communication are central to this role. Ability to translate data into clear stories for internal and external stakeholders. You will need exceptional writing, editing, and visualisation skills, and to produce insights in a variety of formats and channels, from short form to long form writing, and verbal presentation.
  • Proven ability to work well within a team, demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Demonstrated interest in public sector training and development to impact policy implementation through effective educational programmes is desired.

  • Culture interview [45m on Google Meet]. We ask you questions on fundamentally essential behaviours for working at Apolitical. We may also ask questions related to critical technical abilities for the specific role. This call is about finding candidates who will add to our culture. It’s an opportunity to get to know how you work and for you to get to know us as an organisation, so we make time at the end for you to ask questions you have about how we work and if we’re the right place for you.
  • Skills assessment task [offline]. We use SATs to see how you approach problems and to give you a sense of the type of work you would be doing in the role. We use them because they’re reliable in assessing and predicting suitability for a role. Our SATs are designed to take a maximum of 2 hours and we mark them anonymously to reduce bias.
  • Team interview [45-60m on Google Meet]. You’ll meet with members of the hiring team to answer questions about the required skills and traits for the role (as in the job spec).
