Location: Worcester College, Walton Street, OX1 2HB

Grade: The annual stipend will be £4,002.88 to be paid in equal monthly instalments from commencement to August 2025. Any additional hours worked will be paid at an overtime rate of £10 per hour, where authorised. 

Worcester College, Oxford are recruiting a Junior Dean. The post is offered on a fixed term contract, starting on 1st September 2024 until 31st August 2025

The Junior Deans undertake a range of duties in college, to ensure the community functions harmoniously. Duties broadly encompass:

  • welfare provision, e.g., support in a medical emergency, emotional support during crises
  • discipline e.g., closing down unauthorised parties, ensuring members comply with college rules
  • safety e.g., supporting lodge staff, completing duty rounds. 

The Junior Dean will join an active Welfare Team within in the college, consisting of the Dean, Assistant Dean, Junior Deans, Student Welfare Officer, Nurse and College Counsellor. The team works closely with the College GP’s at 27 Beaumont Street and other departments including accommodation and the academic office. The Welfare team promotes and supports the non-academic wellbeing of all students in college.

We are, therefore, looking for graduate students who are mature, responsible, excellent communicators and able to set an example in college for their peers. They must be able to confidently make judgements, unafraid to challenge others, be proactive and be able to think on their feet as events unfold. 

Any appointment will be conditional on the successful candidate having the right to work in the UK, receipt of satisfactory references (including a reference from your academic studies supervisor) and a pre-employment medical health assessment questionnaire. Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment with the College will also be subject to a satisfactory disclosure report from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
