We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Security Analyst to join our Information Governance and Security team on a Permanent basis.

About the role:

The Information Governance and Security (IGS) team is responsible for supporting teams across the GRL campus to ensure the security and integrity of our information, data and networks to allow us to fully exploit the value of these assets.

The Junior Security Analyst will play a vital role in assisting to keep GRL’s proprietary and sensitive information secure, working collaboratively to support the identification and remediation of vulnerabilities in the security systems, solutions, and programs while supporting the IGS team to make recommendations to improve the overall security posture.

You will be working closely with the Head of IT Security and other IDS colleagues, monitoring networks and systems, detecting security threats (‘events’), analysing and assessing alarms, and reporting on threats, intrusion attempts and false alarms, either resolving them or escalating them, depending on the severity.

About you:

You will assist with the monitoring of current security tools for security incidents and vulnerabilities; assisting with the development of monitoring and visibility capabilities; reporting on incidents, potential vulnerabilities, and trends.

You will assist with investigations into potential/confirmed security incidents, including investigation of, countermeasures to, and recovery from computer-based attacks, unauthorised access, and policy breaches escalating issues to Head of IT Security/Head of Information Governance and Security as required.

You will support the rolling programme of vulnerability scans for internal and external applications and remediate vulnerabilities.

You will work independently and with other IDS team members to assist end users by providing advice and guidance on Cyber Security.

You will assist with identifying and implementing improvements across the GRL Infrastructure, to enhance protection from ever-evolving threats. Analyse trends, news and changes in the cyber security space.

About us:

You will be joining an expanding Information Governance and Security Team.

This is an entry level role where you will be supported to develop your Cyber Security knowledge and skills.

GRL supports a broad range of application systems in complex technical environments where requirements change at a fast pace. Security mitigations and controls must have minimal impact to the organisation whilst ensuring the robust security posture required. This will require building close trusted relationships with technical teams to understand their needs and constraints and collaboratively work to deliver effective mitigations and controls.

Essential technical skills:

Experience working in a similar cyber security role, with relevant skills and knowledge in networks, endpoint security, vulnerability management, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) etc.

Ability to assess, implement and use security tools to improve the security posture of the organisation

Understanding of up to date current threats and trends

Experience of working with Mac, Windows, Linux/Unix & Microsoft based systems

Exposure to cloud applications, including Microsoft 365, Azure and Intune

Exposure to ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) for incident management purposes

Other Information

We operate a hybrid working pattern with the requirement of a minimum 2 – 3 days working onsite.
