For more information, visit Panthera.org.Job PurposePanthera is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The Junior Accountant will play a key role in supporting various accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and budget analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.
- Review and reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness for multiple foreign Panthera entities.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and reconciliations as needed.
- Preparing and reviewing monthly & quarterly INL grant financial reports and handling recodes.
- Reviewing monthly expense reports of the INL team; first approver in CR
- Track spending and manages tracking sheet and variance monitoring for INL budget.
- Reviewing monthly/ quarterly sub-award expense reports and posting subaward expense journals to accounting system.
- Providing regional budgets in Panthera institutional budgeting process.
- Preparing budget and budget modifications for application for funding opportunity of INL project.
- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc analysis as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skill Set
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required.
- 1-2 years of experience in accounting or finance role preferred; recent graduates with relevant internships or coursework will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and practices is a plus.
