Department Overview

Central Services is the engine room of the Bank. We’re 1200 people delivering mission critical services across our Technology, Operations and People functions. We’re undertaking an ambitious transformation programme, CS2025, to ensure we can continue to provide excellence in our professional services to colleagues across the Bank. This is led by the Bank’s Chief Operating Officer, Ben Stimson and overseen by the Governor, Andrew Bailey, and Chair of Court, David Roberts. The CS2025 delivery team comprises a mix of skills and experience, with the in-house team supported by external experts with experience of delivering organisational change.

Job Description

The Lead Business Analyst – Business Process Expert, works in partnership with the business to help understand, analyse, document, challenge, project manage and propose new ways to tackle process related change. The Lead BA, Business Process Expert will apply a combination of techniques such as Lean / Six Sigma to help the organisation, remove inefficiencies and improve the customer experience through improved business processes.

We are currently seeking 2 Lead Business Analysts to lead on Process improvement, process re-engineering and process operating model work on a 12 month FTC.

Initially these roles will focus on our Technology and People (HR) business areas, which are diverse and complex so a variety of skills will be required, including, but not restricted to understanding organisational business processes, leading and facilitating workshops with senior stakeholders and being able to propose new ways to embed processes that align to the remit of processes simplification and the removal of inefficiencies.

The post holders may be required to matrix-manage members of their Project Team.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the ongoing professional and personal development of team members.

What does this job involve?

· Act as the accountable person for all the business process related issues on the chosen initiative for the appropriate Business Area.

· As the BA Lead – Process Expert, provide support to teams across the Bank on the direction the initiative needs to take by providing informed insight on topics including but not limited to:

o Approach to business process analysis.

o Development of business process delivery plans with associated artefacts.

o Lead Business Analysis representation at various meetings.

· Draw on understanding of People’s and Technology’s roadmaps to shape business processes to ensure the right outcome, for example simplifying and removing inefficiencies.

· Bring together a joined-up view of business processes that may impact multiple business areas, for example process hierarchies and traceability to other artefacts.

· Review business processes before they are sent to senior stakeholders to ensure accuracy and consistency and alignment to wider strategic aims

· Run the end-to-end approach to business process analysis and design on the initiative.

Role Requirements

Minimum Criteria

· Process Certifications (Six Sigma / Lean or equivalent).

· Demonstrable experience of showing strong career development as a Process Expert / Lead BA throughout the CV.

· Demonstrable detailed understanding of BPMN 2.0 and its application.

· Experience of working with cross-functional teams to map complex processes, identifying pain points and bottlenecks.

· Demonstrable experience of research and analysing data to identify opportunities for improvement in business processes or developing new methods for improving efficiency.

· Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing process improvement plans, including documenting and communicating changes to employees.

· Demonstrable experience of leading and facilitating workshops with senior stakeholders to extract key information.

· Confident understanding and experience of having developed business processes across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Essential Criteria

· Excellent stakeholder management skills at all levels.

· Experience of senior stakeholder management with ability and credibility to influence, negotiate outcomes, challenge prevalent thinking.

· Experience of developing and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of implemented process changes.

· Experience of collaborating with various departments and teams to ensure alignment of business processes with organisational goals.

· Experience of developing training materials and conduct workshops to educate team members on new processes and procedures.

· Highly collaborative attitude and team working skills to facilitate expert opinions (such as with Architects, security consultants, Technology domain leads etc.

· Ability to multi-task and work in an environment with multiple reporting lines.

· Experience of managing complexity and change and an awareness of the associated technical impacts to the organisation from having worked on complex projects and programmes involving business process change.

Desirable Criteria

· Educated to degree level or relevant work experience.

· ISEB / BCS BA Diploma certified, IIBA certification (e.g., CBAP) or equivalent.

Salary and Benefits Information

This specific role offers a base salary of circa £67,860 – £78,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience) on a full-time basis. We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.

In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:

  • A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
  • A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
  • An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
  • 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
