Contract Type – Fixed Term – 12 Months Maternity Cover
Full Time – 35 Hours Per Week
The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Learning Technician to join the Learning Technology Team that supports the development, implementation and sustainability of teaching in the School of Mathematics, in coordination with course organisers and members of our Technology Enhanced Mathematical Sciences Education (TEMSE) Theme.
The role holder will provide technical support, advice and guidance to academic and professional services staff in the use of technology-enhanced learning tools for the delivery and development of teaching. This will include supporting the implementation and the continued improvement of individual courses that are introducing elements of innovative teaching.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Good subject knowledge in mathematics, covering calculus, algebra, linear algebra and differential equations to a good undergraduate level.
- A working knowledge of typesetting online, e.g. in HTML and basic LaTeX is essential
- Basic computer programming, preferably using a Computer Algebra System
- Analytical and technical problem solving
- ability to plan own work and manage projects in conjunction with line manager.
