Job Description

De Montfort University Dubai is seeking a qualified and passionate Lecturer in Architecture to join our Faculty of Art, Design and Humanities. This role is integral to delivering a forward-thinking architecture curriculum that integrates climate literacy, digital innovation, and ethical design.

The successful candidate will support the Architecture programme through design studio teaching, lecture delivery, student supervision, and module support, while also contributing to the continued development of the curriculum and enhancement of the student experience. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and students to shape the future of architectural education within an inclusive and globally engaged academic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate architecture modules, including design studio, technical, and theoretical components.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and workshops aligned with professional and academic standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback and supervision on student projects and design work.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality enhancement processes.
  • Incorporate digital tools and platforms into teaching, including 3D Printing, BIM (e.g., Revit), AutoCAD, Rhino, Virtual Reality (VR), Lumion, Grasshopper, Maya and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Support student learning through academic advising, mentoring, and pastoral guidance.
  • Assist with assessment design, marking, and moderation in accordance with institutional policy.
  • Participate in recruitment activities, open days, exhibitions, and outreach events.
  • Engage in professional development and contribute to a collaborative academic culture.

Candidate Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • A good BA/BSc (Hons) degree and a postgraduate qualification in Architecture or a related field (Essential)
  • All academic qualifications must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or be eligible for attestation upon offer of employment (Essential)
  • Candidates must also ensure their qualifications are eligible for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency, or be willing to begin this process upon appointment
  • Professional registration with ARB/RIBA or an internationally recognised equivalent (Essential)
  • PhD or equivalent practice-based research experience (Desirable) Experience:
  • Ideally a minimum of 3–5 years of combined professional practice and teaching experience in architecture.
  • Experience in leading design studio projects and delivering architectural education in a higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with UK higher education standards and RIBA/ARB accreditation frameworks (Highly Desirable)
  • Practical experience with both digital and analogue design methodologies.
  • Demonstrated interest in ethical, climate-responsive, and community-engaged architecture.
