Job description: Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we are looking to recruit a new Lecturer in Automotive on a full-time basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £26,303 -£41,070 per annum. This post qualifies for a one-off payment Golden Hello of £3,000.00 (subject to T&C’s) and you might be applicable for the Government Taking Teaching Further Incentive which awards £6,000 payable over 2 years in two £3000 instalments.

The Lecturer in Automotive Role:
As a Lecturer in Automotive, you will deliver high quality and effective teaching and learning to Bournemouth and Poole College students. This is an instructor post which is key to support student development in the practical elements of carpentry whilst also preparing individuals for the world of work.
Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Automotive will include:
- Teaching on courses as agreed with the Learning Manager across the Automotive department including Level 1 to Level 3 (Full time and Apprentices), F-Gas, and Electric/Hybrid vehicles to reflect the needs of the department and students.
- Contributing to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum
- Paying due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including:
– individual learning styles.
– support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
– extension resources/activities for students of higher ability.
– general resources, including the use of Information Learning Technology. * Organising and participating in relevant visits, enrichment visits, ship visits, and liaise with external organisations to enhance the learner experience.
- Creating an outstanding student experience which leads to progression or employment
- Preparing and marking student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers, and College managers, as appropriate.
- Taking appropriate responsibility to ensure the health and safety of self and others
- Developing and maintaining effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course and represent the College at relevant meetings internal and external.
- Contributing to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/course
- Internal verification
- Acting as a Personal Tutor to students, full time students/apprentices
- Representing the College at internal and external events and meetings including student recruitment and admissions events
- The above list of duties is not exhaustive and is subject to change. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties within the scope and grading of the post.
As our Instructor in Lecturer in Automotive, you’ll ideally have:
- Teaching Qualification or willingness to achieve within 2 years (sponsored)
- Level 3 Automotive Apprenticeship Light Vehicle
- Minimum 5 years industry experience light or heavy.
- Knowledge of current industrial practices or teaching in field(s) of expertise
- Willingness to support College events, including outside of normal working hours
- Appropriate Assessor Qualification A1 or TAQA or willingness to achieve within 1 year (sponsored)
