The Division of Media, Communication and Performing Arts (MCPA) seeks to appoint an experienced Lecturer in Film & Media. The primary purpose of this role is to work collaboratively with an established team of academics to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the division of Media, Communication and Performing Arts.

QMU has a long track record of delivering industry-relevant media, communications, and film degrees. Joining an established team of film and media academics, you would contribute to the delivery and leadership of existing modules from QMU’s well-established courses to provide students with a practical, broad and employable skill set.

The successful candidate will combine theoretical knowledge with up-to-date industry-relevant awareness in the broad area of film and media.

Applicants would normally hold a PhD in a relevant subject area and have the necessary expertise required to teach across a variety of film and media modules at both UG and PG level.

While applicants would require understanding of the wider sector, they would be expected to provide the Division with specific knowledge and expertise regarding Documentary, Film Studies (particularly in global and world cinemas) and/or Adaptation Studies.

In the first year of appointment, the post holder would primarily focus on delivering existing degree programmes and in addition, they may be required to contribute towards developing new programmes and modules related to their knowledge and expertise.

Specific modules that the postholder may contribute to include:

  • Creative Practice: Researching Documentary
  • Global Film Cultures
  • Adaptation: Stage and Screen
  • UG Dissertations

The Division of Media, Communication and Performing Arts currently offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Content Creation, Drama, Arts Management, Acting, Costume, Strategic and Political Communications, Film, Media, Digital Marketing and Public Relations. The Division also has several successful collaborations with other organisations delivering QMU validated degree programmes. Staff within the Division submitted to REF 2021. If the post-holder has a track record of relevant research outputs, then they will be able to join the Research and Knowledge Exchange Centre for Culture in Society.
